Mixed Tots Class 0-4 years (40 minutes)
This class is designed for smaller groups of children to enjoy interacting together, with the support of their parent or carer.
Meet and Greet!
A time of merriment, excitement and anticipation as everyone arrives. Children, with their adults look for their name card among the picture clues for today's theme. Music is played to create a welcoming atmosphere!
Let's Get Going!
Wake up, wake up! Get your body moving! A time to get our bodies moving, minds thinking and ready to learn. A rousing 'wake up' song with actions is just the thing to get everyone awake and alert and joining in!
A fun time to move to the music with a variety of props such as scarves, ribbons, ribbon rings and pompoms. Can you do what I do? Or can you do what a friend can do? Their actions may be small, they may be big, they may turn, they may twist, they may be high, they may be low, they may be quite still! What does the music tell you to do?
Milly's Musicality Time!
An opportunity to explore a variety of age appropriate instruments: To compose, perform, listen, appraise and respond to music and sounds. Throughout the year children will experience different timbre (sounds), pitch (high/low), tempo (fast/slow), rhythm (longer/shorter) and dynamics (loud/soft) of music and sounds.
Play the Parachute!
Rucks of fun with songs and games around, on and under the parachute. I can hear the squeals of laughter now!!
Goodbyes and Snack Time!
Well done!! A time to celebrate the children's successes and learning and present their Rucks of Fun stickers, and singing the Goodbye Song'. Classes finish with a healthy snack and sharing of next week's theme.
A Warm Welcome!
Sitting on a mat in a circle, each child is welcomed by name and name cards are returned to the Rucks of Fun House. The 'Welcome Song' is sung at the beginning of each class.
"Welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome... welcome everyone,
There's music and there's lots to do at Rucks of Fun!"
Today's theme links all the songs and games together and are carefully chosen to support children's learning according to the time of year. Action songs with visual aids introduce children to new concepts and ideas about language, number and the world around them.
What's in the Bag?
'What's in the bag? What's in the bag?
Come and have a look - What's in the bag?'
Each week from the music bag appears a rhyme book - sometimes traditional, sometimes new, with visual clues. A special adult is chosen to hold and turn the pages as the children sing and act the rhyme.
Zoom with Ziggy!
Curiosity and expression are uppermost as children are introduced to a variety of resources to explore how they can be used. Such as: hoops, a variety of balls, beanbags, bubbles, and some home made resources. Lots of independent discovery is encouraged using the children's senses and creativity and accompanied to music.
Let's Be Quiet!
Ahhhh!!! A slow captivating song to slow down the pace, relax excited little minds and bodies and bring the lesson to a quiet peaceful conclusion.
The content of each lesson may vary depending on the level of FUN!
